	Beginner 1 pts	Intermediate 2 pts	Advanced 3 pts
Combing for Context Clues	Beginner Student does not underline any of the unknown words within the passage. Student does not circle any context clues.	Intermediate Student underlines the unknown words within the passage but does not circle (identify) a context clues for each unknown word.	Advanced Student can identify unfamiliar words and can accurately identify the context clues within the passage and name the context clue type.
Evidence of learned strategies used	Beginner The student shows no evidence of using strategies to find unfamiliar word meanings.	Intermediate The student demonstrates adequate usage of at least one strategy to find meaning of unfamiliar words in a story.
