Mars Calendar Project

Students will create a Mars calendar. They will decide on how many days, weeks, and months their calendars will have. They will also create holidays or other important days that should be mentioned.

Poster 1 pts All the months have been drawn onto the poster	Excellent=A Poster is neat, colorful, and show creativity. Names of the days and months have been neatly written onto the poster. * They have kept a theme and the made-up month names show this.	Good=B . Names of the days and months have been neatly written onto the poster. Not much of a theme and the names of the months not very creative.	Fair=C * Poster is fairly neat. Could have put more work into it. * Have the days and the months on the poster. *Not much thought or creativity went into it.	Poor=D * Poster is not very neat. Poster is not colorful or creative. Only did the bare necessities to get by.
Holidays 1 pts Students come up with their own holidays	Excellent=A * Have listed creative holidays and can explain what each one is and how it is celebrated without looking at the calendar.	Good=B * Have listed the holidays and some creativity has gone into it. They are able to tell about some holidays but have to look for others.	Fair=C * Have some Holidays but they have to read the holiday and how it is celebrated. They aren't sure what they are without looking.	Poor=D * Maybe one or two holidays listed but not much thought went into it.
Team Work 1 pts Both partners work on the project.	Excellent=A * Both partners worked together equally on the project. There was not a lot of downtime or one preson doing more than the other person	Good=B *Both partners worked together equally most of the time .	Fair=C * Both partners worked on the project but there more downtime than there should have been.	Poor=D *Not a lot of work was done without the teacher reminding the partners to get to work.
Presentation 1 pts Students present their calendars	Excellent=A * Both partners were well prepared and presented their calendars in a creative fun and interesting way. They knew the names of their months and days They were able to tell about their holidays without looking at the calendar or reading it off the calendar. * Spoke clearly and were easy to understand.	Good=B * Both partners were well prepared. Presented their calendars in an interesting creative way. They knew most of the names of their months and days but had to look at a few. Spoke clearly most of the time.	Fair=C Both partners were somewhat prepared. Presented their calendar appropriately. They knew some of the names of their months and days but had to look at others. Had holidays but had to read about them instead of tell about them. Somewhat clear.	Poor=D * Partners not prepared. They didn't know what to say. Had to be prompted by the teacher. Mars Year Caculations 1 pts The months and days have to add up right.	Excellent=A *Months and days must add up to 670.24 Earth days.	Good=B * Months and days are off a few days.	Fair=C *Months and days and off a month.	Poor=D *Months and days don't even get close.
