Create Your Own Dance
Students are required to create their own dances, in groups no larger than 8 students. Dance routines are required to be one minute in duration. FOUR Dance moves learned in class, i.e. line dances, square dance moves, and FOUR original dance mores are to be incorporated in your dance routines.

Work reflects the strong efforts of the group. The group is enthusiastic and positive. The group used their time effectively. The group gave 100% effort preparing for the performance.

Group repeats dances taught in class. No attempt to create anything new.
Fair
Group attempts to create something new, but simply rearranges taught patterns.
Good
Group attempts and succeeds at creating something new. Group uses dance styles from class in new original ways.
Excellent
Group creates a successful, dynamic new routine with creative combinations.
Technical skills
Poor
Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance. Did less than 8 skills. No required skills.
Fair
Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance. 2 of 4 required skills less than 8 total skills.
Good
Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet. 8 or more total skills all required skills.
Excellent
Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style. All required skills.
Rhythm/Tempo
Poor
Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.
Fair
Shows basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up or makes errors in rhythm.
Good
Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.
Excellent
Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the dance.
