Washing Applies liquid soap to hands Lathers all surfaces of wrists, hands, and fingers producing friction for at least 20 seconds Cleans fingernails by rubbing fingertips against palms of opposite hand	Poor Student performs task with 3 or more errors	Fair Student performs task with no more than 2 errors	Good Student performs task with no errors
Washing & rinse technique Keeps hands lower than elbows & fingertips down No splashing Does not touch inside of sink at any time Rinses all surfaces of wrists, hands and fingers	Poor Student performs task with 3 or more errors	Fair Student performs task with no more than 2 errors	Good Student performs task with no errors
Drying, turning off water Uses clean, dry paper towels to dry all surfaces of hands, wrists, fingers.
