3D Atomic Model, Power Point,Oral Presentation of an Element
3D Atomic Model, Power Point,Oral Presentation of an Element
Student will create a 3-D model of an atom, Student will include the correct number of protons, electrons, and neutrons in the correct location for that atom. The student will also compose a Power Point using at least 10 facts about an atom. The student will present a 5 minute oral presentation, using model and power point of their element.

3-D Design of atom and Labeling
30 %
Poor
Student failed to complete an atom model.
The student failed to label the protons and neutrons in the atom model.
Fair
Atom is not accurate in terms of number of sub-atomic particles. Atom model has many design flaws. Choice of materials does not suit model. The student made an attempt to label protons and neutrons in the atom, but labels were not clear.
Good
Atom is accurate but lacks some information. Atom model has some design flaws. Choice of materials is appropriate for model.
The student labeled the protons and neutrons in the atom model, but with some incorrect spelling.
Excellent
Atom is accurate and student has included all required information. Atom model is neat and well designed. Choice of materials is well suited for model. Student model design exceeds all required expectations. All parts of the atom were labeled correctly.
Creativity
10 %
Poor
Student failed to complete an atom model.
Fair
Project appears forced, hard to follow.
It appears to have too many parts that are strange and do not serve any purpose.
Good
Project is well done, but it is not unique.
It has many similar components as other models.
Excellent
Project is unique, and sets itself apart from the others. The project shows creativity that is exciting and fresh. Student creativity exceeds all required expectations.
Color
5 %
Poor
Student failed to complete an atom model.
Fair
The student has no color at all in the project.
Good
The student has color in the project but has failed to color-code protons and neutrons correctly.
Excellent
All parts of the project are correct and complete. The project has adequate color, and all parts are color-coded accordingly. Student model exceeds all required expectations..
POWER POINT
25 %
Poor
There was no Power Point at all with the model.
Fair
The Power Point was present but contained only 4 of the required elements. The Power Point was disorganized and sloppy.
Good
The Power Point was present but contained only 7 of the required elements. The Power Point was somewhat organized, somewhat neat, and contained some creativity.
Excellent
The Power Point was present and contained all required (10)elements.
The Power Point was well organized, neat, and creative.
OVERALL Presentation
30 %
Poor
Student could not present his or her atom to the class.
Fair
Student presentation was done, but was confusing or unclear. The student did not demonstrate an understanding of the topic.
Good
Student presented his or her atom to the class, but was missing few key components, such as: a common use for the element, atomic number, atomic mass/ weight, element name, element symbol, # of protons, # of neutrons.
Excellent
Student presented all components of the project to the class with ease and confidence. Student presentation exceeds all required expectations.
