Ukulele Assesment
This Rubic assess the progress students demonstrate in playing a single string melody and a single chord. This assessment considers hand placement, holding the ukulele and the sound quality of the selections played.

Students shows knowledge of frets, uses fingers 1,2,3 or 4 to play, and can quickly find frets. Plucking creates consistent ringing tone. Thumb placement is behind neck.
Excellent
Student shows knowledge of frets, uses multiple fingers, and plays in rhythm with the sample. Plucking creates consistent high quality tone. Thumb placement is behind neck and moves with hand to support fingering.
Right Hand Position
Poor
Student does not show ability to strum or pluck. Sting makes no sound.
Fair
Students pulls very hard, or makes a tinny sound when strumming or plucking
Good
Students strums or plucks consistently usually creating a pleasant tone
Excellent
Student strums and plucks with a quality tone that shows expressiveness.
Chords
Poor
Students does not demonstrate ability to fret, finger or decipher chord chart. Many or all strings are muted when strumming
Fair
Student demonstrates left hand placement. one or two stings are muted when strumming.
Good
Student Demonstrates left hand placement. All stings ring.
Excellent
Student demonstrates left hand placement with all fingers arriving to the fret board together. Strumming tone rings and has quality sound. Demonstrates strumming patterns with ease.
