The student is sitting at the front of their seat with a straight back, and feet flat on the floor. The student is not holding their neck in their hand correctly, and/or is "reaching" with their head to bring the mouthpiece/neck to their face.

The student is not sitting at the front of their seat with a straight back and feet flat on the floor. The student is not holding their neck in their hand correctly, and/or is "reaching" with their head to bring the mouthpiece/neck to their face.
Set Drill Instructions
Excellent
The student follows each step of the set drill accurately and on tempo. Student's "Up, 2, 3, 4" is even from prep position to set position. "Set" is still. Students take the full 2 counts to breathe. Students start pushing air at the beginning of "air" and keep pushing all the way to "freeze." The student stays still for all 4 counts of "freeze." The student's "down, 2, 3, 4" is even from set to prep.
Developing
The student follows each step of the set drill on tempo, but struggles with accuracy in one or more of the instructions in the sequence:
Student's "Up, 2, 3, 4" is not even from prep position to set position. The student breathes too early, or does not take the full 2 counts to breathe. The students push air too late, or stop their air before touching "freeze." The student wiggles during "freeze." The student's "Down, 2, 3, 4" is even from set to prep.
Poor
The student skips one or more steps of the set drill.
Embouchure

The student's top teeth are touching the top of the mouthpiece. The student's bottom lip is covering the teeth and the reed is setting on top of the bottom lip. The student has the right amount of mouthpiece inside their mouth for their specific face. The student is making an "OH" shape with their mouth closed. The student has firm corners that are hugging the mouthpiece.

The student's top teeth are touching the top of the mouthpiece. The student's bottom lip is covering the teeth and the reed is setting on top of the bottom lip. The student has the right amount of mouthpiece inside their mouth for their specific face. The student is not making an "OH" shape with their mouth closed. The student's corners are too loose and are not hugging the mouthpiece. The student has too much lip under the reed or over the mouthpiece.
Poor
The student's top teeth are not touching the top of the mouthpiece. The student's bottom lip is not covering the teeth and the reed is not setting on top of the bottom lip. The student does not have the right amount of mouthpiece inside their mouth for their specific face. The student is not making an "OH" shape with their mouth closed. The student's corners are too loose and are not hugging the mouthpiece.
