Descriptive Phrases	Poor Student did not use any descriptive words or phrases.	Almost there Student attempted to use at least one descriptive word or phrase.	Met Expectation Student used two or more descriptive words or phrases.	Exceeded Expectation Student used varied amount of descriptive words and phrases. Student also used similes, metaphors and/or comparisons.
Conclusion	Poor Student did not end paragraph with a conclusion.	Almost there Student attempted to end with a conclusion but it was incomplete.	Met Expectation Student ended paragraph with an appropriate conclusion.	Exceeded Expectation Student ended paragraph with a conclusion that included a restatement of the main idea and perfectly summed up the purpose of the paragraph.
