Format	Excellent Contains all 4 sections. Sections are clearly defined. Extremely well Written with little to no grammatical errors	Good Contains all 4 sections. Sections are defined. Well written with few spelling or grammatical errors.	Fair Contains 2-3 sections. Some spelling or grammar errors that do not overly distract from writing.	Poor Contains less than 2 sections. Several spelling or grammar errors that distract from writing.
Preamble	Excellent Extremely well written and clearly declares independence from a person or group.for a specific reason	Good Well written and states independence from a person or group for a reason with some supporting details	Fair States independence from a person or group but lacks supporting details or seems uncertain or the reason for Independence	Poor Does not clearly state independence from person/group.
Natural Rights	Excellent All Natural Rights included. Strong Understanding of the DOI Strong flow and clear writing	Good Some natural rights included & shows understanding of Declaration of Independence. Writing flows and is written clearly.	Fair Includes a few natural rights but not enough to show an understanding of the Declaration of Independence.	Poor Only a couple of natural rights listed in the writing.
