Final - 2019 Set/Costume Design 
Students read a given script. Working as a team, they determine an approach to the project and take on roles of Director/Lighting Designer, Set Designer or Costume Designer.

The speaker is competant, speaks audibly and appears to know what they are talking about.
Needs Improvement

The speaker is hard to hear at times, eye contact is infrequent and is not totally knowledgeable about their presentation
Poor

The speaker is not audible, doesn't make eye contact, is fidgity, and has little or no knowlege of their subject.
Demands of Script

Evidence of research and analysis being put into action through design. Was the design relivent to the needs and given circumstance of the script.

Excellent

The model presents a set capable of meeting all the demands of the
script. Includes all necessary flats, props, and other set pieces three-dimensionally.
Good

The model shows a clear effort to meet the demands, may have 1 or 2 script demands not met. Includes most necessary flats, props, and other set pieces three -dimensionally.
Fair

The model addresses the basic needs of the script. Includes about half of the necessary flats, props, and other set pieces three-dimensionally.
Needs Improvement

The model ignores significant script demands. Backdrops, props, and other set pieces are simply painted onto the box.
Poor

The model does not represent the chosen play in any way.
Creative Design

Origionality and detail. Does the design execution represent a unique take on the script. Does if demonstrate style and vigor.

Excellent

The set accurately represents the time period/place or style of the the script. There is evidence that a great deal of research that has been incorporated into the design.
Good

The set gives indication of the time period/place or style of the script. There is evidence that some research has been incorporated into the design.
Fair

The set gives indication of some of the time period or place or style of the script. There are elements that are not appropriate to the overall style.
Needs Improvement

The set has only minimal tie in with the time period/place or style of the script. There are elements that are not appropriate to the overall style.
Poor

The set does not tie in at all with the time period/place or style of the script.
Detail and Design

Is the model a full design? Does it represent the needs of the production? Are there details in the craftsmanship?

Excellent

All elements of the model are clean, neat, detailed, and it is evident that clear choices have been made. It appears as though student spent an exceptional amount of time getting the assignment "just right".
Good

Model is created neatly with some focus on the detail and technique. Clear choice has been made, though not fully executed. It appears as though student spent a good deal of time completing the assignment on time.
Fair

There is evidence of a process. The model is finished but does not demonstrate a strong focus on detail nor continuity of design. It appears as though the student rushed to complete the assignment.
Needs Improvement

The model appears disconnected. Little focus has been placed on creating a full design. The piece is unfinished. It appears as though the student ran out of time to complete the assignment.
Poor

The model does not have a clear design process. There is little to no execution of detail in the work. It is sloppy.Model is incomplete.
Costume Design

Are the renderings Does it represent the needs of the production? Are there details in the craftsmanship?

Excellent

All elements of the renderings are clean, neat, detailed, and it is evident that clear choices have been made. It appears as though student spent an exceptional amount of time getting the assignment "just right". There are 3 renderings or more.
Good

Renderings are created neatly with some focus on the detail and technique. Clear choice has been made, though not fully executed. It appears as though student spent a good deal of time completing the assignment There are 3 renderings.
Fair

There is evidence of a process. The renderings are finished but do not demonstrate a strong focus on detail nor continuity of design. It appears as though the student rushed to complete the assignment. There are 2 renderings.
Needs Improvement
