Research	Exemplary Student has collected and analyzed a variety of sources that are used together to create an original work.	Accomplished Student has collected and analyzed 3-5 sources and used information appropriately.	Developing Student relies heavily on one source, with a few supporting details from other sources.	Emerging Student uses only one source.
Rough Draft	Exemplary Rough draft clearly includes ideas from Brainstorming & Prewriting. Evidence shows clear organization in writing.	Accomplished Rough draft includes ideas from Brainstorming & Prewriting. Evidence shows that student used steps one and two to write the rough draft.	Developing Rough draft includes limited ideas from Brainstorming & Prewriting. An attempt was made to include the information from steps one and two in the rough draft.	Emerging Rough draft includes little to no ideas from Brainstorming & Prewriting.
Revising & Editing	Exemplary Student made numerous changes to writing, changing/adding details and description to make writing more attractive to reader. Few errors were made in conventions/grammar.	Accomplished Student revision shows adequate changes made to content and ideas in writing. Details were added to enhance writing. Several errors were made in conventions/grammar.	Developing Student attempted to make changes to their writing, however the changes were minimal and focused on editing verses content and description presented in writing. Frequent errors were made in conventions/grammar.	Emerging Student spent little to no time revising & editing. Little to no changes were made to piece based upon the class directions or student's revising goal. Numerous errors in conventions/grammar make it hard to understand the composition.
