Construction- outside
Excellent
Seams were well constructed. Seams are nice and smooth. Everything stayed together and the mug is fully functional. A lot of attention to detail was put forth on the vessels and seams. Outside of lip is very smooth.
Good
Overall construction is good and functional with a few minor mistakes such as cracks and smoothness of vessel and seams. Outside of lip is pretty smooth.
Fair
The construction has many dents and issues with the seams. The construction of the vessel got a little sloppy and their is some unevenness. Outside of lip is somewhat smooth.
Needs Improvement
Overall construction has a lot of flaws that are visible. The seams are torn and uneven. The edges of the vessel are rough and uneven. Outside of lip is rough and uneven.
Rim/Feet/Belly
Excellent
The mug’s rim is symmetrical and the vessel held it’s shape. The mug balances perfectly on all three feet and all three feet and seams are extremely close in size. The belly has been pushed out without any damage and it pertrudes much past the rim’s circumference.
Good
Mug is pretty symmetrical and circular around the rim, but has just a few minor flaws with the shape. The feet keep the mug balanced but the three feet are off in size a little. The belly was pushed out but a few minor cracks happened.
Fair
The mug lost it’s shape and the rim became kind of oval. The feet are a little unbalanced and uneven. The vessel has a decent amount of flaws. The belly wasn’t created very well and is hard to notice.
Needs Improvement
The mug is not balanced on the three feet. The mug is also warped and not round. Feet and seams below are no where near even in size. The belly wasn’t created at all.
Texture
Excellent
Texture was used and used well. The texture still shows perfectly through the glaze and was smoothed out before the first bisque firing.
Good
Texture was used but some of it’s detail was lost during glaze firing. Texture could have been cleaned up a little more.
Fair
Texture was in place but the artist did it very sloppy. Texture doesn’t show much after glaze firing. Texture wasn’t cleaned up and appears pretty rough.
Needs Improvement
Texture around the mug is not visible.
Construction - Inside
Excellent
The mug’s inside is very neat, clean, and smooth. A proper amount of clay was used to fill in feet and center. Artists made sure to clean the interior up well enough that there is no evidence of using the clay fillers.
Good
The mug’s inside is pretty neat, clean, and smooth. A few edges could be a little smoother. Clay was used to fill in feet and middle, but it could have been cleaned up a little better.
Fair
The mug’s inside has a decent amount of inconsistencies. The lip’s rim is a little rough on the inside and the artist did not correctly execute the clay fillers in the interior. Inside looks a little unfinished.
Needs Improvement
The interior of the mug is very rough and uneven. Extra clay was not used to fill in the feet or the center. Seams broke and therefore the cup isn’t functional.
Glaze
Excellent
The glaze was evenly put on. There are no weak (lighter) spots due to poor application. The glaze didn’t fill the texture. The glaze was smooth and did not have any major dripping.
Good
The glaze had a few flaws due to application process. Glaze may have bubbled or cracked a bit because of dirty surface or too much applied. Glaze didn’t ruin the texture, but covered a little bit of it.
Fair
The glaze has many flaws due to application process. Lots of cracks and drips. Glaze chosen wasn’t great due to it filling the texture quite a bit.
Needs Improvement
Glaze was done rushed. Glaze is very inconsistent. Glaze completely filled and ruined the texture applied.
Piece isn’t glazed.
