Warm/Cool Painting Warm/Cool Painting Creating a split painting the portrays a warm vs cool portion. The paintings will include a house, fence, path, and tree in each panel. Rubric Code: S22W27C By jbenson Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Arts and Design Type: Project Grade Levels: 9-12

Color Usage	Excellent Clearly demonstrates difference between warm and cool colors: Wide range of hues. Equally balanced ratio between warm and cool.	Good Clearly demonstrates difference between warm and cool colors. Somewhat equal balance of warm to cool. A decent range of hues were used.	Fair Somewhat confusing depiction of a warm versus cool section. Not very well balanced and a limited range of hues.	Poor Didn't really section off a warm versus cool section. Not a balanced piece and used an extremely limited range of hues.
Medium: Paint	Excellent Colors are crisp and not muddied. Paint is vibrant and not watered down. Hues were used to appropriately distinguish some values.If brushstrokes were visible they were purposeful towards texture.	Good Colors were used correctly to represent warm and cool, but the blending of them got a little muddied. Paints used a little too much water and are somewhat transparent. Brushstrokes are visible.	Fair Colors were blended up too much and become a distraction. Brushstrokes and staying within the section got sloppy. Colors are bland, too much water use.	Poor Colors are messy and not clearly thought out per section. Brushstrokes are very messy and distracting.
Creativity	Excellent Artwork completed neatly with much creativity. Student followed all instructions carefully. Student came up with two very unique concepts that represent the warm and cool section well.	Good Artwork completed neatly. Student followed instructions. Student came up with two concepts that represent the warm and cool section.	Fair Artwork completed somewhat neatly. Student followed most instructions. The two concepts chosen are a little confusing towards the representation of warm and cool colors.	Poor Artwork is messy. Student followed some instructions. Student did not create two separate sections to represent the cool and warm colors.
Craftsmanship	Excellent It is evident student spent exceptional time and effort "getting things just right". Paper was taken care of really well. No damages whatsoever.	Good It is evident student spent time creating this piece, however, the paper has some slight damage to it.	Fair Student should have spent more time planning and creating this piece. The paper has quite a few damages.	Poor It is evident that student ran out of time to complete the assignment. The paper was extremely damaged and not well taken care of.
