Overall Preparation	4 Student makes a clear effort to come up with a sound story pitch and develop the story through careful research, preparation and interviews. Rough draft of script is submitted on time.	2 Student submits a story pitch late but it is sound and developed adequately. Rough draft of script is submitted on time.	1 Student submits a story pitch late, which is not well thought out and one dimensional. Interview Audio	4 Excellent audio captured. The proper microphone is used, in the proper way, to capture the audio.	3 Good audio is captured but microphone should have been positioned better in certain interviews and/or standup.	2 Audio is not clear in certain interviews or standup because either the settings on the camera are not accurate, there is too much ambient noise present or improper microphone use.	1 Audio is very poor and distracting in certain interviews and/or standup either due to settings, improper microphone use or ambient noise.

Stand up relates to story.	2 Script is complete but poorly written and/or sound bites are introduced incorrectly and/or stand up is incomplete.	1 Script isn't complete and/or soundbites not introduced and/or stand up not done. Story is disjointed and not well-written.
Effective Message	4 Story unfolds in a logical and intriguing way. Demonstrates original thinking and careful scripting.	3 Story follows a logical thread and holds interest.	2 Story follows a logical thread but isn't fully developed and fails to address obvious questions.	1 Story is not well-developed, one dimensional, disjointed and/or hard to follow.
