Purpose 10 pts	Poor Did not understand the problem and did not successfully utilitze any of the simple machines required.	Fair Somewhat understood the problem. Students used less than 6 energy transfers.	Good Mostly understood the project, used all 6 energy transfers but did not connect them effectively.	Excellent Completely understood the problem and used all 6 energy transfers required.
Art/labeling information 20 pts	Poor Either the Artwork or description of machine was completely missing.	Fair The artwork was sloppy and difficult to read.and/or/ labeling and description of machine was not well detailed.	Good Some effort was put into the artwork but the labeling was incorrect or unclear.	Excellent Artwork is neat and detailed. The labeling of each part of the machine was accurate and clear.
Time 10 pts	Poor Machine took 5 seconds or less to complete the task.	Fair Machine took between 5 and 7 seconds to complete the task.	Good Machine took less than 10 seconds but more than 7 to complete the task.	Excellent Machine took 10 seconds or more to complete the task.
Product 50 pts	Poor The device does not work and the desired outcome is not obtainable without restructuring the entire machine.
