Cradling Skills Dominant Hand	insufficient	Emerging Player has difficulty maintaining ball in her stick with both dominant hand up. Shooting Basic Skills	insufficient	Emerging Player pushes ball out of stick and does not pull down with bottom hand. Top hand is too close to stick's head. *Players shot does not have significant amount of speed to be classified a shot.	Proficient Player does not push ball when shooting. Player pulls down with bottom hand while shooting. *Player protects stick from defender before shooting.	Advanced Player steps with opposite foot and rotates hips for extra force. Player's stick is pointed in the direction of the shot (signifying follow-through)
Ground Balls Skills	insufficient	Emerging Player body and butt end of stick stay high. Player gets low but leaves butt end of stick high in air. * Ball "pops" up from pocket after player scoops ground ball. Ground Balls Competitive	insufficient	Emerging Player often allows opponent to beat her to the ball. Player may give up after a first attempt at gaining possession of a ground ball. *If player does not win possession, player does not attempt to put defensive pressure on ball carrier.	Proficient Player competes to gain possession of ground ball. If player does not win the ground ball, she puts adequate defensive pressure on ball carrier. *Upon gaining possession, player sometimes picks head up to look for pass or shot	Advanced Player always runs full speed to compete for possession of ground ball.
