After learning about suspense, author wording, and character importance- - the students were to write a memoir about a time in their lives that changed them with some suspense.

Suspense/Interest	Exceeds Student exceeds all of the criteria for including at least 3 of the following: dialogue, suspense, and interest referring to the event & character, using the plot and dialogue to keep the reader's interest.	Achieving Student meets the the criteria for including at least 2 of the following: dialogue, suspense, and interest referring to the event & character, using the plot and dialogue to keep the reader's interest.
