Rhythms Students identify and perform notated rhythmic patterns, which include quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes using rhythm syllables.
	Novice 1 pts	Developing 2 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Mastery 4 pts
Use of Rhythm Syllables Students recite the rhythm using the Kodaly rhythm syllables.	Novice Student is unable to recite the rhythmic pattern using the correct rhythm syllables (making 7 or more errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Developing Student is able to recite some of the rhythmic pattern using the correct rhythm syllables (making 4-6 errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Proficient Student is able to recite the majority of the rhythmic pattern using the correct rhythm syllables (making 1-3 errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Mastery Student is able to recite the rhythmic pattern using the correct rhythm syllables without error.
Rhythmic Timing Students recite the notated rhythm in correct time.	Novice Student is unable to recite the notated rhythmic pattern in time (making 7 or more errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Developing Student is able to accurately recite some of the notated rhythmic pattern in time (making 4-6 errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Proficient Student is able to accurately recite a majority of the notated rhythmic pattern in time (making 1-3 errors out of a 19- to 21-note rhythmic pattern).	Mastery Student is able to accurately recite the rhythmic pattern in time without error.
