This rubric gives different criteria for lower body form and arms/upper body form for running.

Arms at middle guard (they are swung at lower chest, mid-torso level)<BR>

Upper body less vertical, no leaning forward

Arms at low guard (natural running position)<BR>
Arms in opposition to the legs<BR>
Elbows bent not quite 90 degrees; partially extended during the run<BR>
Upper body with slight forward lean for momentum
Proficient

Arms in complete opposition to legs<BR>
Upper body with necessary forward lean<BR>
Complete elbow extension<BR>
Elbows at 90 degrees
Running Path

Beginner

Moves inconsistently along path, traveling off path and returning 3 or more times.
Emerging

Stays mostly on path but wastes movement returning to mid-line
Developing

Usually stays on path and uses little effort to regain rhythm.
Proficient

Consistently stays on path and in rhythm.
