Creativity	Excellent Student went above and beyond coming up with their own unique ideas and applying them to the style.	Average Students develop their own ideas, but not something that is new or unique compared to examples that are shown.	Below Average Student is beginning to develop and apply own ideas.	Poor Design lacks creativity or student simply copied another student or art sample.
Craftsmanship	Excellent Student demonstrates a growth mindset: takes their time to check for small details and completes work to the best of their ability.	Average Student is beginning to demonstrate a growth mindset and attempts good craftsmanship. Student uses class time to ensure their artwork looks good.	Below Average Student does not check for small details that could be fixed or clean up mistakes.	Poor Student lacks accountability for what art work they turn in. Does not listen to feedback or encouragement. Students say "I can't"
Use of Space	Excellent Student has a great sense of design of how to use negative and positive space and make the use of space relate to their animal design.	Average Student had a good use of negative and positive space, and added their own designs that resembled the assignment.	Below Average Student used the negative space around their artwork but didn't to plan a design of their work.	Poor Student did not use negative space around their project.
Use of Mediums	Excellent Student demonstrated excellent use of medium. Color in the shapes give movement and meaning to each shape.	Average Student demonstrated basic use of medium. Color in the shapes give some movement and meaning to each shape.	Below Average Student demonstrated a somewhat good use of medium. Color in the shapes give little movement and meaning to each shape.	Poor Student demonstrated a poor use of medium. Color in the shapes give no movement and meaning to each shape. Color incomplete.
