Represents Interpretive Meaning	Poor I need to work on interpreting the text and not just summarizing what was already read. My work needs improvement on including MY interpretation in my own words and not just a regurgitation of the text.	Fair I can interpret some of the text, but most of my work was simply a retelling of the text. However, I am almost there with including more of my own words into my writing.	Good I can interpret the text and use my own words to convey my answer.	Excellent I can interpret the text and use my own words to convey my answer. I also go 'above and beyond' in supporting my answer by using rich vocabulary and much detail.
Supportive Evidence	Poor I need to work on quoting supportive evidence.	Fair I can quote supporting evidence. I need to work on increasing the amount of supporting evidence within my writing.	Good I can correctly use and cite supportive evidence from sources that are relevant.	Excellent I can correctly use and cite supportive evidence from different sources that are accurate and relevant. I have used the term, for example, when referencing the book (s) or have used direct quotes.
Deep Understanding of Text	Poor I need to work on understanding the text by asking questions or re-reading the information or asking for help on how to convey this understanding into my writing.	Fair I can understand some parts of the text and convey this in my writing; however, I need to work on understanding the entire text. I can do this by re-reading difficult sections or by asking questions.	Good I understand the entire text and can convey this within my writing.	Excellent I understand the entire text and can convey this within my writing. I also demonstrate a deep meaning of the text and include that deep understanding within my writing.
