Text support Uses text support of comparison statements.	Good All statements are supported by the text.	Fair Most statements are supported by the text.	Poor Few or none of the statements are supported by the text.
Statement Placements	Good All statements noting similarities are placed in the center circle and all statements that note differences are placed in the correct outer circle.	Fair Most statements are placed in the correct circle, but student mixed up a few statements.	Poor Few statements are placed in the correct circle.
Number of quality statements	Good Student is able to make 3 or more comparisons statements in each circle.	Fair Student is able to make at least 2 comparison statements in each circle.	Poor Student makes less than 2 comparison statements in each circle.
Grammar	Good All words are spelled correctly.	Fair 2 or less words are spelled incorrectly.	Poor More than 2 words are spelled incorrectly.
Neatness	Good Handwriting is neat and easily read.	Fair Most handwriting is neat and easily read.	Poor Majority of handwriting is not neat or easily read.
