Fiction Book Report

Introduction	Excellent Includes title an author of the book, clearly stated main idea including who/what the story is about.	Good Includes the book title and author with a brief description. 2-3 sentences.	Fair No title, minimal description, 1-2 sentences.	Poor No attempt.
Main Characters	Excellent Main characters are clearly named and a brief character description is included for each main character. 3-4 sentences	Good Main characters are mentioned with plot elements. 2-3 sentences.	Fair Characters are named (not main). 1-2 sentences.	Poor No attempt.
Setting	Excellent Setting is clearly described with the time the story takes place and where it takes place is clearly described in a drawing with a caption.	Good Setting, when and where is mentioned with little details.	Fair Setting is briefly mentioned, either where or when it takes place, but not both, no caption.	Poor No attempt.
Problem/Conflict	Excellent Problem is clearly stated and summarized. 1 specific major events are clearly listed and described. 3- 5 sentences. Solution to the problem is described concisely. 3-5 sentences.	Good Problem is briefly described with 1 major events not specifically described. 2 -3 sentences. Solution is present. 2-3 sentences.	Fair Problem and Solution are described with minimal details. 1-2 sentences. Difficulty providing information regarding the problem and solution.	Poor No attempt.
Grammar/Mechanics	Excellent Book report has been edited and the final copy contains very few errors in puntuation, spelling, and grammar.	Good Book report contains 5-10 errors in punctuation, spelling, and grammar.	Fair Book report contains between 10-15 errors in punctuation, spelling, and grammar. More effort could have been put into proofreading.	Poor No attempt. Book report is difficult to read and doesn't appear to be proofread very carefully or not at all.
Neatness	Excellent Report is clearly and neatly written or typed.	Good Report is neatly written. Handwriting is clearly understandable.	Fair Report is sloppy and difficult to understand.	Poor No attempt.
