Grip Backhand / Thumb grip Back of hand facing upwards at slight angle - thumb pressing onto grip	Novice Racquet gripped in a way that resembles backhand grip	Beginner Correct grip used sometimes	Good Correct grip used majority of the time	Excellent Correct grip used every time
Stance Slightly side on - racquet foot forward - slight bend in the legs - weight more on front foot	Novice Standing front on to net or with non racquet foot forward	Beginner Racquet foot slightly forward - not all the time - no real bend in legs - weight on both feet	Good Correct stance used majority of time - racquet foot forward - legs slightly bent	Excellent Correct stance always used - racquet foot forward - weight on front foot - legs slightly bent
