Footwork

Poor

Feet do not move, or have very little movement not towards the direction of where the pitch is coming from.
Fair

Front foot moves towards the pitch, back foot leaves the ground and moves.
Good

Front foot moves towards the pitch, and back foot pivots in a bug squashing motion never leaving the ground.
Excellent

Keeps front toe pointed toward pitcher and front leg straight with no bend in knee. Back foot pivots and hips rotate through the swing, back foot shouldn't leave the ground.
Body Position

Poor

Body turns all the way around with the swing. As the bat moves around, the whole body moves.
Fair

Body turns to face the pitcher during the swing, but does not turn all the way around.
Good

Body stays closed. Shoulders do not open up and face the pitcher.
Excellent

Hips are rotated through and squared to where the ball was hit. Feet are balanced and hitter does not fall backwards after follow-through of swing.
Hands

Poor

Hands are spread apart when gripping the bat. Wrist does not roll over during the swing.
Fair

Hands are placed together on the bat, but second knuckles on the finger aren't lined up. Little or no wrist movement during swing.
Good

Hands are gripping the bat correctly. Hnads together with second knuckles on the fingers lined up. Writs roll over through the swing.
Excellent

Knuckles are lined up correctly, bottom hand is down and top hand is up.
