Physical Education with Dance Emphasis Physical Education with Dance Emphasis These are the criteria I'll use to determine the grade for each dance taught in the class. Rubric Code: NXB87W3 By ocal64 Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Dance Type: Presentation Grade Levels: 9-12

Knowledge movement/choreography Ability to execute and describe the movements. Student can describe/execute correct placement of hands, feet, legs.	LEVEL 1 Not Yet	LEVEL 2 Almost	LEVEL 3 Yes!
Rhythm/Tempo - Group Ability to stay in time with the music	LEVEL 1 Group work: Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.	LEVEL 2 Group work: Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but sometimes falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.	LEVEL 3 Group work: Accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences.
Shows Energy/Attitude Involvement in the emotion or mood dance. (e.g. connecting with music instead of going through the motions. Students are prepared for class	LEVEL 1 Not really - not engaged with other members of the group. Little contribution evident.	LEVEL 2 Developed: Shows a good attitude - made good contributions to the group.	LEVEL 3 Expert: Fully engaged and substantial contribution.
Effort to Learn Dance	LEVEL 1 Minimal effort. No interest in learning the dance.	LEVEL 2 Some effort put forth. Tried g=hard tp learn the dance.	LEVEL 3 Worked hard to learn dance!
Individual Cooperation	LEVEL 1 Little effort made to contribute to success of group. Dancer was not prepared or well rehearsed. Dancer did not participate in the majority of the classes/rehearsals, or came late.	LEVEL 2 Cooperative most of time. Dancer remembered some steps, but forgot others. Dancer participated in some of the classes/rehearsals, or came late.	LEVEL 3 Respect and consideration shown for other performers. Prepare and well- rehearsed. Dancer participated in all classes/rehearsals and arrived on time.
