Sportsmanship

Rate the players level of sportsmanship.

Beginner

Disrupts game with poor behavior or shows a lack of effort and interest.
May also disrespects teammates, coaches or officials.
Developing

Plays the game by the rules, but vocalizes frustration with teammates, coaches or officials, or blames others for their own mistakes.
Basic / Age appropriate

Understands the game and its rules. Is generally respectful of teammates and opponents
Is generally respectful of coaches and officials. Doesn't cause confrontations.
Advanced

Is a team leader, helps teammates.
Is always respectful of teammates and opponents. Is always respectful of coaches and officials.
Catching

Rate the players ability to field balls.

Beginner

Often drops or is unable to catching/field the ball. Rarely in an athletic /ready position. Acts as if afraid of the ball.
Developing

Is usually in a athletic / ready position, but is unable to consistantly make routine catches.
Basic / Age appropriate

Usually in an athletic position and is able to make most routine catches but struggles with difficult catches. May not fully use body to stop the ball.
Advanced

Always in an athletic position, is able to make most any catch. Effectively uses hands and body to to help field a ball.
Throwing

Rate the players ability to throw to other teammates.

Beginner

Does not use correct mechanics. Has poor distance and accuracy.
Developing

Uses correct throwing mechanics, but consistency and accuracy is in consistent.
Basic / Age appropriate

Uses correct throwing mechanics, has average distance and accuracy.
Advanced

Displays excellent mechanics, motion is fluid and consistent. Has above average distance and is extremely accurate.
Hitting

Rate the players ability at bat.

Beginner

Awkward stance.
Poor mechanics.
Afraid to swing the bat.
Rarely makes contact with the ball.
Developing

Mostly correct stance.
Struggles to keep eye on the pitch. Will attempt to hit the ball.
Makes some contact with the ball. Hits don't go beyond infield.
Basic / Age appropriate

Uses the correct stance.
Has good eye hand coordination. Is able to recognize a good or bad pitch. Usually makes contact with the ball. Hitting distance is just beyond the infield.
Advanced

Always uses the correct stance.
Has above average swing speed.
Is able to hit the ball consistently. Is able to hit to the outfield.
Pitching

If the player has pitched, rate their ability as a pitcher.

Beginner

Does not have the ability to pitch or is unable to throw the ball from the mound to the catcher.
Developing

Is able to throw the ball from the mound to the catcher, but is inconsistent, tends to throw more balls than strikes. Difficult to catch some throws. Forgets roll as a fielder.
Basic / Age appropriate

Is able to throw the ball consistently to the catchers glove.
Is able to come close to the strike zone on most pitches. Usually remembers roll as a fielder.
Advanced

Throws the ball consistently in the strike zone. Has above average velocity. Always ready to field after throwing.
