Keyboarding Technique - For Instructor Use Only Keyboarding Technique - For Instructor Use Only This rubric has been created to assess students ability to type using the correct keying method, hand position, eye focus, posture and effort. Student will print out their Ainsworth report to be submitted to their instructor. Student is to follow good posture technique. Keying Mastery/Hand Position 50 pts	Excellent Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 92% or more of the time while typing with arched hands.	Good Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 91% - 82% or more of the time while typing with arched hands.	Average Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 81% - 72% of time while typing with partially arched hands.	Poor Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 71% -65% of the time with no arched hands.
Eyes on the Source 100 pts	Excellent Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed. The student seldom looks at the monitor or keyboard.	Good Student occasionally looks at fingers to get positioning.	Average Student constantly keeps looking at hands than to monitor/textbook.	Poor Student always looks at keys.
Posture 30 pts	Excellent Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her.	Good Student sits upright but crosses knee/feet.	Average Student slouches but knee/feet are correctly placed underneath him/her.	Poor Student sits slouched and with knee/feet crossed.
Speed and Accuracy 20 pts	Excellent Test result of greater or equal to 30wpm/1/1E	Good Test result of 29wpm/1/1E or less to 20wpm/1/1E.	Average Test result of 19wpm/1/1E or less to 10wpm/1/1E	Poor Test result of 9wpm/1/1E or less.
Appplication 15 pts	Excellent Student uses Keyboarding in everyday applications; e-mail, internet, assignments for other classes. Always types reports and papers.	Good Uses keyboarding in other assignments. Types some reports and papers. Uses for other applications on regular basis.	Average Uses computer for other assignments, but only when asked. Occasionally uses for other everyday applications.	Poor Does not use computer for assignments in other classes, or other applications.
Attitude 15 pts	Excellent Self directed. Desires to improve. No reminders to practice. Keeps working on problem areas. Seeks guidance.	Good	Average	Poor
