Approaching Standard The student did not use the time allotted effectively and it is shown by lack of cohesion in the writing.	Meeting Standard It is obvious that the student used all of the time efficiently to create a piece that expresses their thoughts.	Exceeding Standard It is obvious that the student used all of the time allotted to create a piece that thoroughly and creatively expresses their thoughts.
Voice	Far Below Standard The student does not show any voice in their writing.	Approaching Standard The student shows some voice in their writing.	Meeting Standard It is clear that the student has developed a strong voice in their writing, and that the voice is obvious when reading their piece.	Exceeding Standard The student has strong control of their voice in their writing, which engages the reader and pulls the audience in to really understand and appreciate their writing.
Length and Structure	Far Below Standard The student does not write more than a few lines that may or may not be on task with the prompt.	Approaching Standard The student writes one-two paragraph with a minimum of 5 sentences that may or may not be on task with the prompt..	Meeting Standard The student writes one-three paragraphs with less than 4 sentences in each paragraph that is on task with the prompt..
