Keyboarding Technique/WPM and accuracy Keyboarding Technique/WPM and accuracy MSBCS-BCSI-4: Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and accuracy. a) Identify home row keys and correct finger placement b) Demonstrate proper keyboarding techniques (posture,position, finger placement, etc.) c) Use correct keystroking technique for the alphabet keys. Keying Mastery/Hand Position	Excellent Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 90% or more of the time while typing with arched hands.	Good Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 89% - 80% or more of the time while typing with arched hands.	Average Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 79% - 70% of time while typing with partially arched hands.	Poor Student keeps fingers on the home row keys 69% or less of the time with no arched hands.
Eyes on the screen	Excellent Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed 90-100 % of the time. The student does not look at the monitor or keyboard.	Good Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed 89-80 % of the time. The student does not look at the monitor or keyboard.	Average Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed 79-70 % of the time. The student does not look at the monitor or keyboard.	Poor Student keeps eyes on the material to be typed 69 % or less of the time. The student does not look at the monitor or keyboard. Always looks at keys.
Posture	Excellent Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 100-90 % of the time.	Good Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 89-80 % of the time.	Average Student sits upright with feet placed correctly underneath him/her and back against the chair 79-70% of the time.	Poor Student sits slouched with feet crossed 69% of the time or more.
Speed and Accuracy	Excellent Test Results 5th grade- 17 WPM or more with 85% accuracy	Good Test results 5th grade- 17WPM or more with 80% accuracy	Average Test result 5th grade- 17WPM or more with 75% accuracy	Poor Test result 5th grade- 15 WPM or less with 70% accuracy
