Layout, Cutting, Marking
Poor
layout, pinning, and cutting of the pattern were very difficult. cut lines are very jaggedy and will make construction difficult. markings of dots and notches needs much work.
Fair
Some struggles existed for this step, although most were done well enough that construction from this point will still be successful. The inside of the garment may indicate these initial struggles.
Good
The initial steps of preparing the fabric, pinning on pattern, cutting out project and marking were so well done that this project was set for success.
Seam Construction
Seam Construction
Poor
Cut edges are often not even. Stitching varies greatly throughout the garment. Backstitiching may or may not have been done. Stitching is crooked. Pressing is poor if at all. Corrections need to be made for this garment to look nice on
Fair
Seams are fairly accurate with few variations in the stitiching lines. backstitching, seam allowance width and seam finishes, and pressing are done, but there is ample room for imporvement
Good
Seams are accurately sewn with edges even, backstitched at ends, using correct stitch length and seam allowance. Seam finishes are used unless not appropriate. Seams correctly pressed
Seam Junctions
Poor
Seams are not lined up with eachother and maybe as much as 1/4 inch off or more.
Fair
Seams are not completely lined up, but still close.
Good
Were 2 or more seams meet, they are matched perfectly.
Waistlines
Poor
Fair
Good
Elastic Casings
Poor
The casing area provides a visual and structural weakness. Elastic may be twisted, stitching lines are obvious and unpleasing to the eye. The casing may not properly fit elastic.
Fair
Outer casing areas look fine, however when the inside of the garment is evaluated issues begin to show. Elastic may or may not lay flat or have fit issues.
Good
Casings are neatly completed on both inside and outside the garment. Stitching lines are extreemely straight ant beginning and endings are conceled from sight. Elastic lays smoothly and fits with perfection.
Waistline facing
Poor
Facing finishes the waist in a manner that detracts from the over all appearance of the garment..
Fair
Facing shows moderate weaknesses as it may show slightly from the outside. However, these flaws do not greatly effect the product appearance.
Good
Facing has been stablized and understitiched to waist. It has been pressed and tacked so as not to show from the outside. Also, it is properly placed at zipper so as to allow for prooper finishing.
Waistband
Poor
The waistband has weaknesses that may lead to problems in the garment fit and appearance. Raw edges may show and become lodge in other closures.
Fair
Moderate weaknesses exist in the waistband, but do not distract from the overall preformance.
Good
The placement of the band, stablization and finish of the band add to the structural integrity and appearance of the garment. Raw edges are enclosed.
