Ceramic Stiff Slab Yixing Box Project Ceramic Stiff Slab Yixing Box Project Students are to create a stiff slab box construction based on the Yixing style. Accompanying the project, students will write a critique about the art work. Rubric Code: M23BW25 By mbuzunmiller Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Arts and Design Type: Project Grade Levels: 9-12

Stiff Slab Box Project
	Poor The student did the minimum or the artwork was not completed 10 pts	Fair The student did the assignment in a satisfactory manner. 15 pts	Good Students work showed an understanding of drawing and painting. 17 pts	Outstanding The student applied the principles studied in a unique way. 20 pts
Creativity	Poor The piece shows little or no evidence of original thought.	Fair The student's work lacked sincere originality.	Good The student work demonstrates originality.	Outstanding The student work demonstrates a unique level of originality.
Effort	Poor The student did not finish the work in a satisfactory manner.	Fair The student finished the project, but it lacks finishing touches or can be improved upon with little effort.	Good The student completed the project in an above average manner, yet more could have been done.	Outstanding The students gave effort far beyond the requirements of the project.
Skill	Poor The student showed poor craftsmanship or lack of understanding.	Fair The student showed average skill and understanding of ceramic techniques.	Good The student showed above average skill. It was evident that the student gained knowledge different ceramic techniques.	Outstanding The artwork is outstanding and was finished with a great deal of patience. It was evident that the student gained skill and understanding of using ceramic stiff slab methods and using the tools in the classroom.
Influence	Poor The student could not explain why the art was created in that way.	Fair The student was able to tell why they chose to create the piece.	Good The student could explain how and why they made the decision to create the piece in the way it was completed.	Outstanding The student was able to articulate one or more of the influences that inspired the piece.
Critique	Poor The student did not use any elements or principles to critique their artwork.	Fair The student wrote the critique but did not elaborate or show an understanding of the art criticism process.	Good The student showed above average skill in critiquing their work and showed what they have learned about the elements and principles of design.	Outstanding The student wrote an excellent critique of the work which incorporated the elements and principles of design and showed what they have learned about art criticism in detail.
