Content & Discussion	Substandard = F - Content is incomplete. - Major required topics are lacking or not all included or poorly discussed.	Poor = D - Major points are addressed, but not well supported or discussed.	Fair = C - Content is accurate - Content is mostly complete	Good = B - Major points are stated clearly and are well supported.	Exceptional = A - Purpose of the writing is clear.
Organization & Structure	Substandard = F - Structure detracts from the message of the writer. - Introduction and/or conclusion is missing. - Paragraphs are disjointed and lack transition of thoughts.	Poor = D - Structure of the paper is not easy to follow. - Introduction does not preview all major points. - Paragraph transitions need improvement. - Conclusion is does not flow well.	Fair = C - Structure of the paper is clear.	Good = B - Introduction previews major points. - Paragraph transitions is logical.	Exceptional = A - Conclusion flows from the body of paper.
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling	Substandard = F - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.	Poor = D Paper contains some grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.	Fair = C - Paper contains few grammatical, and a few punctuation and spelling errors.	Good = B Paper contains very few grammatical, and a few punctuation and spelling errors.	Exceptional = A - Paper contains less than 1-2 errors in grammar, punctuation or spelling. - Language is clear and precise.
Submitted on time	Substandard = F Failed to turn in the paper on time online or in class.	Poor = D Failed to turn in the paper on time in class.	Fair = C Turned in class a week late.	Good = B Turned in, but placed in teacher's box.	Exceptional = A Turned in on time in class.
Intergration of your own thinking	Substandard = F Offered no personal analysis.	Poor = D Offered very little personal analysis.	Fair = C Personal analysis followed script from the text book.	Good = B Personal analysis was adequate but not thought provoking.	Exceptional = A Provided exceptional and thought provoking analysis.
