Incorporation of Jazz Movement	Needs Work Work reflects little or no effort to include jazz dance movements.	In-Progress Work reflects some jazz dance movements.	Good Work reflects a good effort from the students. Most of the requirement has been met, but is unclear or missing some movements.	Excellent Work reflects the strong efforts of the group to include a minimum of 10 jazz dance movements.
Time	Needs Work The dance is under 64 counts of 8.	In-Progress Students attempt to create something new, but simply rearranges taught patterns.	Good Student attempts and succeeds at creating something new. Student uses dance styles from class in new original ways.	Excellent Student creates a successful, dynamic new routine with creative combinations.
Technical skills	Needs Work Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	In-Progress Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.	Good Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.	Excellent Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style.
Knowledge of Sequence	Needs Work Demonstration showed little or no evidence of knowledge of the sequence/combination; footwork, musicality, technique and performance energy compromised due to overall lack of knowledge/timing.	In-Progress Getting there: Students demonstrated jazz combination with 3 - 4 errors. Most errors due to poor timing; low performance energy; lacked enthusiasm.	Good Good. Students demonstrated jazz combination with 1-2 errors; 80% rhythmic accuracy in footwork and acceptable performance energy.	Excellent Wow! Students demonstrated jazz combination with zero errors, 100% rhythmic accuracy of footwork and with high performance energy and enthusiasm.
