Summary/Reaction Rubric Summary/Reaction Rubric Choose a full-length article that reviews research on a the week’s topic from a recent issue (last 5 years) of a journal that is offered or subscribed to by the University’s library (LiNC). Be sure to provide an electronic copy of your article because you'll need to turn it in with your paper. Summary	25 The article is clearly but succinctly summarized - only the key points of the article are touched upon. The article summary takes up no more than one third of the total assignment.	20 The article is clearly summarized, but some sub points are addressed along with main points. The summary is not succinct. Often the summary takes up more than 1/3 of the total assignment.	15 The article summary is unclear or overly detailed. Often well over half of the assignment is taken up by the summary.
Reaction	25 Student's specific reaction to the article is addressed. Supporting detail and discussion is provided.	20 Student's specific reaction that are peripheral to the article are addressed. Supporting detail and discussion is only adequate.	15 Student's specific reaction is peripheral, weak, or not at all. Supporting detail and discussion is inadequate.
Article Choice	25 Article selected is current (<5 years), topic is appropriate. Article does not require any additional research.	20 Article selected is current (<5 years), topic is appropriate.
