Nutrition and Wellness Fitness Workout Rubric 
This rubric assesses a student's performance during in-class activities, including computer based learning activities and 'unplugged' activities that do not use the computers. Elements such as participation, pro-activity, skill proficiency, and follow-through are assessed in varying degrees according to the rubric.

Excellent

The student is actively engaged in the workout from beginning to end, and assisting other students when needed.
Good

The student is mostly engaged with the workout and completes the demands of the workout to a satisfactory level.
Fair

The student is not actively engaged with the workout. The student makes little progress and is occasionally distracted by other students and may also occasionally distract his or her classmates.
Poor

The students demonstrates little or no engagement in the workout and is frequently distracted. The student never asks for help, is usually distracted or off-task, and often prevents his or her classmates from completing their own workout.
TECHNICAL SKILLS

Excellent

Workout performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement and other details of workout. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of workout style.
Good

Workout performed with attention to details of technique, has attained proficiency in workout style.
Fair

Workout performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in workout style yet. Some technical errors.
Poor

Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in workout.
RHYTHYM/ TEMPO

Excellent

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythm throughout the workout.
Good

Accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences throughout the workout.
Fair

Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of workout sequences most of the time.
Poor

Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.
SKILLS AND LEARNING

Excellent

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the workout
and does it well.
Good

Demonstrates good knowledge of workout. Keeps up with instructor. Few errors, however it does not interfere with workout.
Fair

Demonstrates knowledge of workout. Keeps up with instructor. Some errors(3-5 errors) causing brief pause in workout.
Poor

Demonstrates some knowledge of workout, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes several errors.
ATTITUDE

Excellent

Exhibits an extremely conscientious and desire to learn the workout, and enhance the learning of others in the class.
Good

Seems interested in learning, makes an above average effort to gain the most out of learning experience.
Fair

A willing participant in the classroom, and exhibits willingness to learn concepts and course material.
Poor

Shows little evidence of wanting to be in the class to learn the workout.
SHOES

Excellent

Student wore athletic shoes.
Good
Fair

Student wore closed toe shoes but not athletic shoes.
Poor

Student did not wear proper athletic shoes: open toe, flip flops
