Story Predictions and making Connections Story Predictions and making Connections This rubric will assess students ability to effectively predict the beginning and ending of the story based off what knowledge they have from a picture walk. Prediction and Making Connections
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Prediction	Poor Student shows little to no ability to predict what story will be about.	Fair Student provides some ideas about what may occur in the story.	Good Student gives several ideas about what may occur in the story.	Excellent Student gives several ideas about what may occur in the story and gives rich detail, supported by information they have already gathered from the book (pictures, title, etc.).
Student uses text for suport	Poor Student uses text incorrectly or uses no texts to support prediction.	Fair Student starts using some text to support prediction but more detail is needed..	Good Student uses text to support prediction but could use more practise choosing selections that specifically support their thoughts.	Excellent Student uses appropriate text selections to support prediction and chooses selections that specifically support their thoughts.
Making Connections	Poor Student experiences difficulty making effective connections between the text and their own knowledge, experience, and thinking.	Fair Student extends understanding by making a few simple connections between the text and their own knowledge, experience, and thinking.	Good Student extends understanding by making connections between the text and their own knowledge, experience, and thinking.	Excellent Student extends understanding by making advanced connections between the text and their own knowledge, experience, and thinking.
