iRubric: Fundamentals of Dance FINAL rubric

Skills performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance technique.

Understands terminology and performs with attention to details of technique, has attained proficiency in movement skills.

Skill performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in technique style yet. Some technical errors.

Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in technique.

Although remembers some of the elements of dance little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.

Shows a complete understanding and execution dance vocabulary and delivers each with precision and poise. Toes are pointed, legs are straight and in correct alignment during moves, power and momentum are used. Dancer controls the beginning middle and end of move. Preparations are technically correct.

Shows an understanding of the move however delivery is not technically sound and precise. Most moves are correct but execution on some are show elements that are not in place.

Nice try on execution but hesitations and casual energy are displayed . Toes are not pointed, sloppy placement, unsure muscle usage. Dancer need more confidence in execution.

Dancer tries but unable to technically execute movements. Participation is noted but dancer needs additional instruction in execution.

Dancer makes little to no attempt to execute dance elements and doesn't try any moves at all.
