Completion	Level 4 Student has completed all work assigned. The work is presented to a high standard in a neat, organized and legible fashion	Level 3 Student has completed all but on of the assigned tasks . The work is presented in a neat, organized and legible fashion	Level 2 Student has completed some the work assigned. The work is usually presented in a neat, legible and organized fashion.	Level 1 Student has completed two or less of the assigned tasks. The work is poorly presented. It is unorganized and difficult to read.
Knowledge and Understanding	Level 4 The student presents a high level of understanding of the text. Student response include comments about the story's theme, predictions, inferences, main ideas, a summary, and author's purpose.	Level 3 The student presents a good understanding of the text. Ideas include comments about the story's theme, predictions, inferences, main ideas, a summary, and author's purpose.	Level 2 The students sometimes demonstrates a good understanding of the text. Student response includes a connection with another book or a connection to personal experiences.	Level 1 The student demonstrates a developing understanding of the text. Responses are short, and lack detail.
Language and Conventions	Level 4 Reading response is written with above grade level vocabulary and sentence structure.
