Big Ideas	Excellent Curriculum and instruction centered around big picture concepts that underline the goal of the unit.	Good Big idea concepts are incorporated periodically throughout unit but not actively the goal.	Poor Knowledge accumulation is the main focus of unit without any big idea goals present.
Standards	Excellent A clear standard is defined as the basis for content and apparent to students throughout instruction.	Good The standard for instruction is somewhat defined and referred to sometimes throughout instruction.	Poor The standard for instruction is not defined and students are unaware of it.
Understandings	Excellent Student understanding and content transfer guides instruction. Instruction implements enduring and overarching understandings that assist students in uncovering new concepts to correlate to big ideas.	Good Instruction for understanding somewhat guides instruction. Enduring and overarching understandings are sometimes present in instruction.	Poor Instruction completely lacks enduring and overarching understandings.
Knowledge and Skill	Excellent Unit content is presented in multiple representations to accommodate diverse student learning types.
