Scenes & Essence of story

4

Scenes are chosen appropriately and help illustrate story clearly and effectively. They are short and filled with text or action, or other relevant moments. Essence of story is very powerful and clear, capturing a source of anxiety/area of concern/alternate vision of the future.
3

Scenes are chosen appropriately for the most part, with the story's essence basically captured. A couple of scenes might not be relevant to driving the story forward, or may be somewhat confusing. Essence of story is clear, but could be more compelling or illustrative of anxiety/area of concern/alternate vision of future.
2

A couple of scenes chosen do not add to trailer and are weak or tangential. Essence of story is convoluted/lacking in clarity. Many clips are too lengthy or too brief, further confusing storyline. Tenuous connection between larger theme of anxiety/area of concern/alternate vision of future.
1

Lack of a clear connection between trailer scenes and the essence of your project's focus. Storyline was very weak, convoluted and failed to project the Many scenes
Script/Dialogue/Text

4

Titles and text add something special to the trailer, and do not detract from overall trailer. Diction was crisp and clever. Script clearly appropriately developed the storyline and drove story forward/illustrated character development. Script shows a very clear connection to "science fiction."
3

Titles and text are appropriate to the trailer.
Diction of text was fair. Script could use more sophistication or could have driven story more effectively/further developed characters. Connection to "science fiction" could be stronger, but is clearly established.
2

Titles and text detract from trailer or do not appear at all. Diction was poor and script was undeveloped or poorly illustrative of larger storyline. Poorly developed characters.
1

No title/text present. Script is poorly composed and/or tangential/unclear.
Sound and/or music)

4

Sound and/or musical background was great with clear match to the storyline's essence. Sound created suspense, was not overpowering. Voices could be heard.
3

Voices and/or music were basically a good match to the storyline. Some sounds may have been hard to hear or overpowering.
2

Sound/and or music did not fit or sound and voices were impossible to hear.
1

Very poor sound quality.
Time (5-7 minutes)/Time Management

4

Length of trailer meets and/or exceeds minimum requirement. (5:00-7:00) Length of film is very appropriate for storyline development and time use (for developing story, characters, etc.) is very effective. Pacing is brisk and engaging.
3

Length of trailer does not meet minimum/maximum requirement, but is close. (no less than 5 minutes, no more than 7) Length of film is appropriate for storyline development but may have meandered off-topic or had some flaws in establishing story or characters in a straightforward manner. Pacing moves well and is somewhat engaging.
2

Length of trailer does not meet minimum requirement by a significant margin. Trailer is tangential and struggles to get storyline/character development across in an effective way. Pacing is jerky and moves in fits and starts or fails to draw audience in effectively.
1

Trailer is far too short or too long. Storyline/character development is convoluted or poorly developed. Pacing is poor, audience engagement is lacking.
Storyboard/Planning

4

Storyboard illustrates the video presentation structure with sketches of each scene. Proposed dialogue and shots are included. All sketches are in a logical order and match the finished project exclusively.
3

Storyboard illustrates the video presentation with some sketches of each scene. Some proposed dialogue or shots are included. Some of the sketches are in order and match the finished project.
2

Storyboard lacks the visual presentation and includes little to no sketches of scenes. None of the scenes are in logical order and follow the finished project. No dialogue or shots included.
1

Inadequate storyboard and/or planning.
