Letter Format /10	Needs Work- Level 1 The writer did not use letter format - many elements missing.	Fair - Level 2 The writer is missing more than one element from the correct letter format.	Good - Level 3 The writer is missing one element from the correct letter format.	Excellent - Level 4 The writer uses correct letter format. (date, salutations, reason for writing letter / intro, body - at least three distinct paragraphs, three arguments have been successfully transferred into letter format without losing impact)
Language /5	Needs Work- Level 1 Many mistakes (spelling, grammar, punctuation).	Fair - Level 2 The letter has many mistakes in spelling and puctuation. There are 3-4 incomplete sentences.	Good - Level 3 The letter contains some errors in spelling and puctuation. Most sentences are complete.	Excellent - Level 4 The letter contains proper punctuation and spelling. There are full, correct sentences.
