Inference Inference By the end of this lesson students will be able to infer meaning from a 4th grade leveled text by combining more than one specific clue from the text with relevant background knowledge that connects with the text. This will be assessed through the students ability to use the inferring equation BK+TC=I (Background Knowledge + Text Clues = Inference). Background Knowledge	Beginning I am not able to use any background knowledge or text from the story to make an inference (just guessing)	Developing I am able to use some background knowledge loosely based on the text to make an inference	Applying I am able to make an inference combining a minimal amount of background knowledge with clues from the text.
