Good (Level 3)
Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors, however it does not interfere with performance.
Acceptable (Level 2)
Demonstrates knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Some errors.
Progressing (Level 1)
Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes several errors
Technical skills
Excellent (Level 4)
Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style.
Good (Level 3)
Dance performed with attention to details of technique, has attained proficiency in dance style.
Acceptable (Level 2)
Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.
Progressing (Level 1)
Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.
Performance Skills
Excellent (Level 4)
The dancer creates a believable character on stage and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance.
Good (Level 3)
The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. Is able to engage the audience.
Acceptable (Level 2)
The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression.
Progressing (Level 1)
The dancer is generally focused, but only some attempt made to communicate with others on stage or audience.
Rhythm/Tempo
Excellent (Level 4)
Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythm throughout the dance.
Good (Level 3)
Accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences throughout the dance.
Acceptable (Level 2)
Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.
Progressing (Level 1)
Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.
Level of activity
Excellent (Level 4)
Student displays excellent effort during activities. Always tries their hardest and is never seen standing around during the activity.
Good (Level 3)
Very good effort. Student tries their hardest.
Acceptable (Level 2)
Student tries to do their best. Participation is satisfactory.
Progressing (Level 1)
Lacks effort, sometimes tries to participate, but doesn’t do very much once the activity has started.
