Influential African American History Project

Students will research one of the two preselected Influential African Americans with a disability and create a visual aid, displaying the following: 2 photos, background information (Birth/Death information, are they married or have children), education. A minimum of 15 facts must be included. Basic The report may not be clearly focused on the person's life and how they were influential in history. Students gave little detail on the background, education, and their individual's significance..	Below Basic The report does not have a clear focus and show little research with no mention of their influence on history. Students gave no detail on the background, education, and their individual's significance.
Presentation	Advanced Students clearly had an understanding of who their individual was and what impact they made, while communicating it clearly to their peers.	Proficient Students had basic knowledge of their selected individual, but clearly conveyed it to their peers.	Basic Student reads the script written on note cards or from poster board directly with no memorization or rehearsed statements and use minimal eye contact during the presentation.	Below Basic Student reads the script written on note cards or from poster board directly with difficulty and had no eye contact with the audience. Also, they showed little knowledge of the individual.
