Sketchbook & Pen Tool-MLK Jr. Portraits 
Students were asked to draw a portrait of MLK Jr. using the Sketchbook App for iPads and stylus pens. Students were required to find a clear image of MLK Jr. and import it to the Sketchbook App. They are required to add a new layer and draw MLK Jr. using the stylus pens and appropriate tools featured in the Sketchbook App to make the portrait look detailed and well composed.

The student used many tools to create details in the original photo. The student created many details, values in color, textures, etc. The background was well thought out.

Student use of the blending, color, and use of different tools further the effect of the portrait. The background was fair but could add details.

Line was sometimes drawn smooth but also rough. There was no use of the details create a more realistic portrait. The background had little to no details.

No care or very little care was given to application of lines.

Skillful use of pen tool to creates a great amount of detail in the portrait. Color, and texture are varied and interesting, and the portrait is highly crafted.

The project was continued until it was as complete as the student could make it; gave effort far beyond that required; took pride in going well beyond the requirements.

Pen is used carefully and skillfully and the drawing is completely finished. Student used class time well. The student worked hard and completed the project, but with a little more effort it might have been outstanding.

Pen is used fairly well but could be improved. Some areas of the drawing may need further attention. The student finished the project, but it could have been improved with more effort.
Unsatisfactory

Portrait is unfinished or appears messy and needs attention. Student did not use class time wisely. Had to remind student to stay on task on a daily basis. The project was completed with minimum effort.
