Introduction
10 pts

Poor

Irrelevant or inappropriate topic that minimally engages listener. Does not include an introduction or the purpose is vague and unclear. Speaker is not identified.
Developing

Somewhat engaging (covers well-known topic), and provides a vague purpose. Alludes to who is speaking/host of the podcast.
Proficient

Describes what the topic is, as well as engages the audience as the introduction proceeds. Tells who is speaking.
Exemplary

Catchy and clever introduction. Provides attention grabbing introduction and establishes both a clear topic of the podcast and builds rapport with the listeners; engages the listener immediately and clearly states name.
Comments

Intro was very inclusive and creative/catchy/funny from the start. Tonality was engaging and it sounded like I was having a conversation with a friend. The host was mysterious as to what they would be talking about but let us know within a reasonable amount of time. Introduced herself and was funny (I think). 13 points awarded.
Engagement
15 pts

Poor

You took very little effort to make your podcast engaging.
Developing

You could explain the topic but it is a really dry podcast with no emotional depth in terms of your voice or content.
Proficient

Your podcast explains the topic and does have an element that makes it interesting. Host asked questions that got you thinking.
Exemplary

Your podcast is engaging as well as informative and relatable. You took care to make your podcast interesting for both people who agree with you and people who do not. Your tonality and voice captivates and engages the audience. The audience could be a part of the podcast and think about the questions you asked/what was discussed.
Comments

Tonality was extremely welcoming and engaging. Voice was upbeat and couldn't possibly put me to sleep. Relatable content that had both sides of the story portrayed. It felt like I was listening to a friend talk and I could participate/think about what was discussed. 14 points given.
Content
30 pts

Going off topic is allowed and welcomed; be creative with where you can take this and what this topic can blossom/grow into.

Poor

You attempt to explain the topic but your explanation is either incorrect or very difficult to understand/follow. Does not talk about topic for most of the podcast and there is no ending to the podcast.
Developing

You describe your topic but perhaps your descriptions contain an error or are difficult to understand. Some information is inaccurate or close-minded.
Vocabulary is adequate and there is no exploration/growth of the topic into different areas.
Proficient

You describe your topic correctly and your description is understandable. Accurate information is provided succinctly.
Vocabulary is appropriate. Includes an ending note to the audience and the bulk of the podcast is creatively explored in terms of content.
Exemplary

Describes the topic very clearly/concisely; it's interesting. Your content is correct/easy to understand. You use applicable examples to illustrate concepts and make it relatable for the audience. It's creative & original content and includes an ending. Creativity/ divergent thinking can be heard by how the host can carry this subject into different walks of life; host can always bring it back/tie it to the topic, while providing insight into the hosts life through vulnerability and openness.
Comments

Rants were prevalent, but I like my podcasts how I made mine. I like going off topic and seeing where the conversation can take me and the roads we can end up on. Topic is always brought back around in the end and it is easy to follow along and listen. Host was open, vulnerable, and encouraged creative thinking, including during her interview with a guest. 12 points given.
Interview(s)
15 pts

Poor

There was no interview/guests on the podcast.
Developing

The was an interview/guest, however, they were barely asked any questions and had less than 1 minute of interaction on the podcast. Only yes-or-no questions are used. No follow-up questions are asked.
Proficient

There was a guest/interview, however, the host did not let them talk or explain their thoughts thoroughly. Open ended questions and follow-up questions are occasionally asked.
Exemplary

There was a guest/interview and the host did a good job of incorporating them into the podcast. Open ended questions and follow-up are used that draw interesting and relevant information from the interviewee. The interview consisted of thought provoking questions and were interesting questions. Interviewee was a part of the podcast and it felt like a conversation you would have face to face, and not one that you would expect to hear at a job interview.
Comments

Interview felt like I was listening to a mom and daughter intimately talk during brunch. It evoked vulnerability and open ended questions were asked, as well as followed up with further discussion/exploration into it. Did not feel like a forced interview, it felt very comfortable. Host did interrupt guest and debate with her several times. 12 points given.
Real World Example/Connection
10 pts

Poor

Your podcast contains a real world example.
Developing

Your podcast contains a real world example but perhaps you didn't explain it correctly or you didn't fully explain why it was relevant to your subject.
Proficient

Your podcast contains a real world example and you correctly explain the concept/idea behind the example.
Exemplary

Your podcast mentions how your concept is connected to the real world more than two times (at least). You thoroughly explain the connection and how the topic is connected to your example and the lives of the listeners. The listeners have to be able to see where you are coming from and maybe gain a new perspective.
Comments

Real world examples were given plenty of times and extreme vulnerability can be seen. There was both abstract and concrete thinking, imagination was used, and real world examples were extremely relatable/relevant to today's society/issues. New perspectives were given, both the host and guest had different viewpoints. 13 points given.
Organization
10 pts

Organization, Grammar, and Delivery. Profanity and vulgar language are allowed.

Poor

Your podcast was not organized and you did not use appropriate grammar. Delivery is hesitant, and choppy, sounds like the presenter is reading. Enunciation of spoken word is not clearly understandable or expression and rhythm are distracting throughout the podcast.
Developing

Your podcast needs to be more organized or you need to think more carefully about the language and grammar you use. Enunciation, expression, and rhythm are sometimes distracting. Uneven delivery and host does not sound confident nor happy to be talking.
Proficient

Your podcast was organized and you used appropriate grammar. Enunciation, expression, and pacing are effective. Smooth delivery with a sense of confidence and happiness detectable in the voice.
Exemplary

Your podcast was organized and was easy to follow. You used appropriate grammar and language. Smooth delivery in a conversational style. Highly effective enunciation, expression, and rhythm that keep the audience listening. Correct grammar is used throughout the podcast. The topics flow in a consistent order and nothing is out of place.
Comments

Podcast flowed in an organized manner. A few mispronunciations can be heard, but host acknowledged that and tried their best. Smooth delivery and there was no "choppy" audio/content/ Very engaging from start to finish. The different tonality pitches really kept me listening. 12 points given.
Podcast Length
10 pts

Length and technical production.

Poor

Podcast was less than 5 minutes in length. There was loud and distracting noise in the background and/or the people talking cannot be heard/are hard to understand. Quality unacceptable.
Developing

Podcast was between 5-15 minutes in length. There is some distracting noise(s) in background and/or the voices sound quiet or far away sometimes; inconsistent volume level. Poor understanding of audio recording.
Proficient

Podcast was between 15-20 minutes in length. Minor issues with background noises and/or with the voices of the host/guest; somewhat consistent volume level. Good understanding of audio recording
Exemplary

Podcast was more than 25 minutes in length. No distracting background noise and the voices of the host and guest(s) were clear and able to be heard without an issue. Consistent volume level. Excellent understanding of audio recording.
Comments

Podcast was 45+ minutes, the length of a real podcast. It is clear that the host has a lot to talk about and it good at carrying on a conversation. From the length and amount of editing/use of music, the host put her heart into it and clearly enjoys this. Guest and host voices were clear and can be heard throughout the whole podcast. It sounded like host/guest were close to the microphone. 14.29 points given.
