Literary Comprehension Questions Rubric

Students are required to answer comprehension questions during/after class readings. Answers must be written in complete sentences and textual evidence must support each answer.

Comprehension	Innovating The student answered ALL (100%) of the comprehension questions correctly. Student fully demonstrates comprehension of main idea from the reading.	Applying The student answered MOST (75%) of the comprehension questions correctly. Student comprehends main idea of the reading.	Developing The student answered at least HALF (50%) of the comprehension <BR> questions correctly.	Beginning The student did not complete the assignment and/or answered LESS THAN HALF (25%) of the comprehension questions correctly.
Textual Evidence	Innovating The level of detail in each question is EXCELLENT/<BR> INNOVATING! Textual details are relevant and the student has connected fully with the literature.	Applying The level of detail in each question is APPLYING. The student could add a bit more textual detail to further enhance answers.	Developing The level of detail in each question is EMERGING/<BR> DEVELOPING! The student attempts to engage the text.	Beginning The level of detail in each question is POOR and the student makes no attempt to include textually relevant information.
Sentence Form	Innovating The student answered ALL (100%) of the comprehension questions in complete sentences.	Applying The student answered MOST (75%) of the comprehension questions in complete sentences.	Developing The student answered at least HALF (50%) of the comprehesnion questions in complete sentences. SOME Punctuation and Capitalization are misused.	Developing There are NUMEROUS spelling or grammatical errors, making the answer difficult to understand. MOST Punctuation and/or Capitalization are not used correctly.	Beginning The student answered LESS THAN HALF (25%) of the questions, making the answer difficult to understand. There are INFINITE errors in grammar and/or mechanics evident.
Format	Innovating Paper is headed and formatted correctly. The student has skipped lines and completed the assignment in black or blue ink.	Applying Paper has one error in heading or formatting. The student has skipped lines and completed the assignment in black or blue ink.	Developing Paper is partially headed or formatted and/or the student has skipped some lines, but completed the assignment in black or blue ink.	Beginning Paper is not headed neither formatted correctly and/or the assignment has been completed in pencil.
