Characters	Insufficient Little to no character development within story.	Appropriate At least one clear character development within story.	Highly Appropriate Contains two or more clearly developed characters.
Plot	Insufficient There is little or no plot development.	Appropriate Plot is fully developed within the story.	Highly Appropriate Plot is fully developed and contains an antagonist and protagonist.
Resolution	Insufficient No resolution can be found.	Appropriate Resolution is found within story.	Highly Appropriate Realistic resolution is found and has a moral or life lesson attached.
Vocabulary	Insufficient Contains vocabulary that is too high or too low for this reading age.	Appropriate Contains age appropriate vocabulary.	Highly Appropriate Contains age approrpriate vocabulary and introduces an appropriate number of new vocabulary words.
Age Appropriateness	Insufficient Material is too old or too young for students.	Appropriate Material is appropriate for this age.	Highly Appropriate Material is age appropriate, yet challenges the students at their own level.
