Fair 3 entries that are complete and contain at least 1 paragraph. Some writing could contain more descriptive writing.	Good All 3 required entries are present, with good descriptive writing and are each at least one full paragraph in length.
Historically Accurate	Incomplete/Missing Journal describes events that would not have occurred on the trail during this time period.	Poor Two or more journal entries describe events that would not have occurred on the trail during this time period.	Fair One journal entry describes events that would not have occurred on the trail during this time period.	Good All 3 journal entries describe historically accurate events that could have happened on the trail during this time period.
Conventions	Incomplete/Missing Journal entry has more than 16 conventional errors: spelling, grammar, paragraphing, capitalization, punctuation.	Poor Journal entry has 11-15 conventional errors: spelling, grammar, paragraphing, capitalization, punctuation.
